Career Coaching is when you work with someone to help you grow your career skills, solve career challenges, overcome roadblocks, and plan your working future.
Career Coaches are typically highly trained and will charge by the hour, normally costing $300-500 per hour. The coaching process will be unique to the coach, but normally starts with a discovery session where they get to know you and your needs and set some goals. Then in each coaching session they will help you through inquiry based questioning, active listening, and reframing - to understand what you are trying to solve, and find the answers.
They usually hold you accountable to some actions and follow-up to ensure you are making progress.
The right way to get career guidance as an individual depends entirely on two things:
1) the available resources within your family or company (eg career coaches, or coaching tools or career planning software and
2) the method that suits you best.
Some people like to work with their manager, HR professionals, or comapny provided resources to receive career guidance. Others prefer to get more independent advice and might seek out their own personal career coach or mentor, or purchase career planning software systems such as Actvo to help them indivudally and independently plan career goals and receive career guidance privately.
Career Coaching is very dependent on the person who's designed the model. Every coach has their own approach and style.
Some common methods include : Tactical/Strategy Planning, Narrative Coaching, SWOT Analysis, OSKAR Model, CLEAR Model, and Journalling.
There are also Coach specific styles that can range from Collaborative, Holistic, Directive and Solution Focussed.

The Coaching Style within Actvo primarily delivered by ACE® is an eclectic directive coaching style - whereby we combine multiple methods and are responsive to each persons individual needs, and work direclty to create outcomes based on those needs.
The main difference obviously is there is no 'human-in-the-loop' - you are working directly with a pre-trained GPT or adapted version of one, to interact with as opposed to a human.
So its equally as important as when you are selecting a human career coach, that you choose an AI Career Coach or a Digital Career Coach that has deep, evidence based training, and is designed and developed by someone who has experience in career planning, coaching or mentoring.
